From the time of our first visit to Neverstill, Rose insisted that this farmhouse and setting were ideal for a Christmas ambience.
This week Rose's folks braved a small snow flurry in the Misty Mountain pass and joined us for a Christmas tree expedition, as we are surrounded by many thousands of fir trees here. We loaded up the kids and a chainsaw and drove back into the forested pasture area along the Nehalem river about half a mile from the farmhouse. There was a lovely break in the slushy weather and after much dithering and debating and arguing the merits of various fir trees, we finally settled on two beautiful specimens. One for the Neverstill Farmhouse and a gorgeous larger one for Grandma and Grandpa Allred's house. After securely strapping the tree to the roof of their car for the tortuously winding journey back through the snowy mountains, we said our farewells and returned to the cosy farmhouse. Rose lit a fire and the kids had a jolly time setting up and decorating the tree. I made a batch of mulled wine and enjoyed the festive scene from the couch. :-)
I am eager to see each of you in the Magic Meat Truck this weekend.
Xoxo.
